Dylan's Six Month Milestone Images 

As a professional portrait photographer specializing in studio baby portraiture, there are few things in life that are as precious as a six month sitter milestone session. I adore photographing babies in their most natural states, typically naked, but with their baby parts modestly covered. This allows us to show off those adorable rolls (and muscles, ha!) baby has developed since birth.

The six month sitter session is a great age! Baby's personality has blossomed and we can really showcase those adorable smiles, chubby thighs, bright eyes, squishy cheeks, and tiny toes! 

The best time to book these sessions is when your baby is sitting up unassisted but not yet walking. This keeps baby in place, too! I have a gorgeous custom wooden backdrop in my studio and it's the perfect rustic look for baby portraiture. 

When darling baby boy Dylan visited my studio, I immediately was smitten with him! His rolls and handsome face are simply life! He was grinning and I felt such as sense of rewarding accomplishment working with him. I cannot wait for his parents to have these amazing images on their walls! Breathtaking baby portraiture is truly fantastic and such a fun way to celebrate your little one's milestones, such as sitting up unassisted, clapping their hands, and making lots of eye contact!

How to Use Newborn Wrapping to Transition to Bean Bag Posing

Today's blog post is step-by-step portraits showing how to transition into bean bag posing from a simple style of newborn wrapping. Sometimes when working with a new baby, they prefer to be wrapped and dislike the feeling of being naked. However, an important trick and tip is to keep your studio nice and warm when the baby is present. Not only does this create a soothing, womblike environment, it helps baby relax so they're more likely to be moldable and curly for those oh-so-precious naked bean bag images! 

Let's get started!

Babies typically prefer the texture of soft textiles, such as jersey knit.

At this point in your session, this is a fantastic time to show how a baby may have slept in the womb. See how their little feet are curled up and they are nestled so sweetly? To have the best newborn photography in your area, it's important to create timeless, beautiful and fresh portraits parents are sure to swoon over!

Feel free to get creative: place baby's hands perfectly on their feet, chest, or even their cheek and face. This makes for a darling newborn portrait! 

Now that baby boy is on his side and dreaming of all things milk and mommy (ha! this is what I imagine at least), you can begin transitioning him into natural newborn poses without awaking his slumber.

At this point, you can begin gently guiding and posing baby into the desired poses, such as slide sleeper or taco pose. These often mimic the womb and show the brand new, curly nature of a recent earthside baby.  These poses are truly beautiful and while they look simple, require much training to achieve the effortless look of a sleeping baby.

However, wrapping a baby prior to bean bag posing is an awesome way to create these dreamy, timeless photos! Parents deserve the best newborn photography available to them and I proudly present galleries with much joy because it's an honor to photograph cherubs in their newborn stage.

Hi, friends! Today's blog post features a recent newborn girl, Gemma, who visited by studio. If this is your first time here, welcome! I'm Sarah! Located in Houston, my studio is near 290 and Barker Cypress. It's the perfect place for your baby's first professional photography session! Since I take 15 due dates per month, I like to feature my favorite sessions on my blog! Today's stunning newborn is named Gemma. Her sweet parents visited from Spring, Texas - just north of Houston, and were a complete dream to have in studio. From the moment mom inquired, I knew she was the perfect fit. She kept me laughing the whole session, was so friendly and personable, and also had a warm spirit. I truly have the best clients!

Once we finished the family photos, Gemma slept wonderfully for me! She truly was the perfect baby, which makes for the best newborn photos! At 8 days fresh, she was nursing like a champ and able to get into a very deep sleep. Of course, sometimes parents are a little worried baby won't do well during their session, but have no fear: you receive an awesome and very detailed prep guide from me so you're able to know exactly what to expect.
