Flexible Scheduling for Houston Newborn, Baby, and Infant Portraiture

Hello! Welcome to the blog! Today’s blog post shares updated studio hours so you’re sure to have plenty of options for booking your little one’s professional photoshoot! One of the most popular parent questions is, “When do sessions take place?”

STUDIO HOURS & 6 DAYS PER WEEK AVAILABILITY:

Studio sessions, consultations, and gown fittings occur during the hours below. Sarah and Kevin are a husband and wife team with six days/week availability. Sundays are no longer available as our studio's commercial office building is located within stopped offering air conditioning on Sundays in response to COVID-19.

• M-F from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

• Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 pm

• Sunday: Closed

OUTDOOR, ON-LOCATION PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY HOURS

Outdoor sessions (maternity or family) are scheduled outside studio hours at sunrise and 30 minutes before sunset. Due to the tentative nature of outdoor sessions, these occur at different times throughout the year. Would you please e-mail directly as our online calendar is for studio appointments only?

• We offer ten outdoor appointments per month. If weekends are your preference, please consider booking as early as possible.

Where is the studio located?

The photography studio is centrally located in Houston in Uptown. Inside the 610 loop, off San Felipe with easy access to all major freeways such as I-10, I-45, 59, I-610, Sam Houston Tollway, Hardy Toll Road, 288, and more!

Good morning, friends! Today’s blog post is a formal announcement sharing information about the new studio that is available as of May 2019! Here’s everything you need to know about the new office space!

Centrally Located inside the 610 Loop

I am absolutely thrilled to share information about the new location for Sarah Borchgrevink Photography! As a professional portrait artist, I am moving my office and work space to a central area in Houston called Uptown. This is located off San Felipe and 610.

The address is the following:

Dream Photography Studio | Floor Plan Overview

Below is a floor plan attached of the new space and the plans that are currently in place. The studio space is a 1,300 square foot office located inside of a commercial office building. The space is being fully renovated and remodeled to fit my timeless, classic, and vintage-inspired style of photography. This space is a complete dream and everything a professional baby photographer could ever want!

The studio is ideally located in the prestigious Post Oak Park near the Galleria, Williams Tower, Greenway Plaza, Texas Medical Center, Museum District, West University, Rice Village, Downtown Houston, Montrose, Upper Kirby, and the Heights.

Studio features:

Inside the studio you will find the perfect floor plan for amazing baby photography and a wonderful experience for new parents. The studio features the following:

• A lobby and reception area so parents have a comfortable place to wait. There are also snacks, of course, and a coffee bar. Inside this lobby area you’ll also find a playroom for young children to hang out in whilst their sibling is being photographed.

• The mothers lounge is designed for the comfort of new mothers. This is a nursing, feeding, or resting room so you may feed your baby, in comfort and peace, before and after your session. I do have four young children myself and recognize that feeding Baby is a huge part of your day. This mothers room will allow you to relax and to leave your session so Baby has a full tummy for the car ride home.

• The prop room has anything you could ever want for accessories! Inside my prop room, which is labeled storage, you will find a huge array of props, perfectly organized. Here is where I will keep my hundreds of props such as buckets, bowls, baskets, wooden bowls, newborn antique beds, hats, bonnets, headbands, wraps, textiles, backdrops, and more!

• The all white lifestyle room for family, child, or maternity sessions. This room is going to feature a big white bed, white couch, and have beautiful flooring, crown molding, and floor to ceiling light to make for the dreamiest of sessions. This can be used for little sitter sessions, baby milestones, and even family photos during your newborn session. This room will focus on capturing families naturally and with connections.

• The posed newborn room featuring backdrops, three custom wood walls, and comfortable seating for you during your time in studio. This room is about 500 square feet, within itself, and will have the same look at my current studio. This means I’ll be keeping the three rustic wood walls my husband, Kevin, designed for me as well as all of the seamless paper backdrops. Everything will be set up in advance for your session for a seamless experience.

Amenities:

The building has monitored security, ample surface parking plus controlled access to garage covered parking, as well as a deli downstairs.

Online Booking Available

A new feature that has recently been implemented is online booking for your sessions. This is how you seamlessly sign your contract, pay your deposit, and then select your session date & time from a calendar. This is designed for busy parents who like simplicity. Breathtaking Backlit Photography for Timeless, Airy, and Dreamy Portraits

Ethereal Backlighting for Stunning Newborn and Family Sessions

In my Houston Newborn, Baby, and Infant Portrait Studio you’ll find amazing lighting that makes for stunning images! One of my favorite ways to light my subjects is called “backlighting” which is simply a controlled technique in which a light is placed behind or at the proper angles to produce a separation between the subject and the background. The end result is heavenly and absolutely beautiful. These take place during each session and parents always select these during their proofing.

When booking your preferred portrait artist it is always a great idea to peruse their portfolio and see if the type of work they produce makes your heart sing. Each photographer has their own style and branding behind the images; for instance, at SBP, the heart of the styling, shooting, and editing is dreamy, rustic, and timeless. 30 years from now the images will not look dated and instead the images are all about the subject, interactions, and embracing the spirit of this momentous time in your life.

Preserving Family Bonds | Examples of Backlit

When you visit for your baby’s first professional photo shoot, we’ll cycle through several setups such as family, sibling, parents, dad with newborn, and mommy with the new baby, too! You may be interested in reading more about the family portion posing, too!

You’ll be told what to wear to the session and even given a styling questionnaire to ensure your favorite colors make their way into our session. When photographing a new family from the backlit perspective, I love to see you in solid colors; neutrals are the most timeless and fantastic colors for this part of your session.

When using the all white, bright light the focus is interacting with one another. I may have Dad kiss Baby, Mom smile down at Baby, or perhaps have parents look into one another’s eyes and think about how much they love the new addition.

We also focus on family bonds and incorporating the older sibling, too, if you have another little one. As a mama to four young kiddos, I can attest you’ll treasure this portion of your gallery!

We’ll also take time to photograph each parent with your earthside cherub, too, and the white light will frame beautifully in any home decor.
