Fun Outdoor Summer Watermelon Birthday Session in Houston TX

Happy birthday to cutie pie Collyns! Her outdoor & natural Light Children's Session features an adorable watermelon smash in Houston Texas.

Greetings, folks! Howdy to you! Welcome to my blog. If this is your first time visiting, you're in for a treat since I'm showing you a super adorable toddler today; however, if you've been here before you may notice I mostly feature newborn sessions. Nonetheless, many of these sweet babies happen to be baby plan clients, too, so at some point they do turn one or hit another milestone, such as 6 months, so here and there you'll see a post showing little ones, too.

Happy birthday to one of my long time clients! I first met this beautiful baby girl at her newborn session and it's already been a year! Her mama contacted me for one year portraits in a natural, outdoor setting. Since C's favorite food is watermelon, what better way to celebrate the big O-N-E than a sunrise session featuring vintage inspired images showing a precious baby eating watermelon, huh? Ha! 

Here are a few of my favorites from her watermelon themed first birthday shoot!

When we arrived, there was plenty of Texas heat and humudity to go around, but baby girl was all smiles. Such a pretty little love - her pink headband is too cute on her! We used a rocking horse from her nursery, too. The quilt is mine, but it is fun when clients bring special heirloom pieces from home. They add a special touch to your session. 

After the rocking horse, we did a variety of sets up from the actual watermelon smash in my antique cream high chair to a bubble bath where baby can splash and play. After these, we let her have fun and sit on a quilt just enjoying her yummy fruit.

Greetings, friends! Happy Friday to you! This is one of my favorite days of the week because I am always gearing up for an exciting weekend; whether it be hanging out with my three little girls, photographing gorgeous babies in studio, or out exploring Houston with family or friends, the weekend always holds much promise. I hope the same is for you! If you've found yourself on my blog, you may be on the hunt for family, child or baby portraiture. You're in luck! My name is Sarah and I adore all three of these genres. I should note, however, at this time, my 2017 calendar is super full for family/children, but I am always taking newborns.

Speaking of squishy cherub babies: this sweet family has been with me since the very beginning of baby's life. I've had the honor of working with them several times and cannot express how lovely they are. Super genuine, laid back, and awesome people. I'm truly blessed to call them clients! 

The first time I met them, they welcomed me into their charming home for an in home lifestyle newborn session. I saw them again for fall family portraiture, 6 month images, and now baby boy is turning the big one! We met at Hermann Park, inside the 610 loop, for a sunrise family session.

As you can see, Mom is radiant and Dad looks super dapper. They're an adorable couple; of course, their precious family looks fantastic with Baby J on their hip. There's something so endearing about a family as they run and play and hold their kiddo in the morning light. This light, you see, looks best at around 6:30 AM, and while it IS early, it makes for fantastic portraiture.

Dapper Little Dude's First Professional Photos | Newborn Photography

Houston Newborn Photographer, Sarah Borchgrevink, specializes in custom posed newborn & family portraiture. She serves Houston as well as the surrounding suburbs.

A brand new baby. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, this makes my heart soar. Photographing the most tiny of clients is truly a joy. The details, styling, and spending the morning  cuddling a sweet little baby is one of my favorite aspects of baby photography. The customized sessions cater to parents seeking a variety of colors, poses, and props. For example, for this cherub's session, we used navy blue, tan, grey and cream. I provide everything you need, except the baby. This includes vintage floor props such as buckets, bowls, or crates. I also provide the wooden floors you see and backdrops to ensure the final product is coheisve with the work you see in my portfolio. I also have a vast array of bonnets, headbands, and organic wraps to adorn you baby's face. While props are minimal, such as the set ups seen here, they are also classic. 40 years from now you want the images to still have timeless yet soulful feeling.

For my time with baby boy, he loved to be wrapped! The wrapping is pretty nifty because it reminds you baby of being in the womb; it helps them "curl" up and feel safe during our session. For 9 months, your baby grew in your belly, so this reminds them of all that they know. A warm room and full tummy makes baby happy, too! This little guy did make me work, though I am very happy with his portraits as they're vintage, rustic, and the light fills his face to highlight his chubby cheeks, button nose, and little lashes.

For the family portion of his newborn session, his parents chose to not participate, so our focus was sibling with baby. While I do include family images in all of my collections I offer, I also understand sometimes parents may not feel photo ready. No worries! That just means more newborn portraits for you. Regardless, I do encourage sibling shots at the very least. Big Brother simply stole my heart! During the session, he sat with me while I posed little brother; he told me all about his teachers at pre-school and we sang some fun songs together, like "The Wheels on the Bus," haha! Big sister told me all about her soccer games and how her team won a game that past weekend. Meeting these sweet children was truly an honor and my heart melted while working with them. The innocence of them is simply pure.
